Dedica:

I know I should be the one writing a dedication to Maestro Farulli but I can’t help but report the words he himself wrote to me many years ago in the pages of a violin exercise book he had given me.
“To Leonardo Matucci, with best wishes for many years of love for the violin and for humanity”
At the time I was 11 years old and I still remember the emotion of having received such a special gift; now I know that those few words fully represent the thought and activity of Farulli’s entire life.
Making music is not only creating art but is also an act rich in social worth. Music is a precious gift to disseminate and share, both by playing and teaching. The beauty of art can truly save mankind.
These are the values that were transmitted to me in Farulli’s fantastic school in Fiesole, where I had the good fortune to study, and where now I have the duty and the honor of teaching.
The Maestro’s legacy is alive, pulsating; There are the hundreds of ex-Fiesole students who populate the orchestras, Fiesole students of today who dream of playing in a quartet. It’s his ideas that appear more and more current and powerful.
I can see myself again as a child before his imposing figure, as he asks me: “Why do you want to play the violin?” Now I know. Leonardo Matucci
